L to R: Toccara, Marky, and Ktolver

L to R: Toccara, Marky, and Ktolver

WoW, April 2009 was a rough month for me (Ktolver -Founder of AMADI) even though AMADI magazine was featured in the PG County Gazette newspaper, which is a GREAT accomplishment! Just like everyone, at times I SECOND guess all the work I am putting into AMADI. Real talk, I really had to refocus and pray over a few obstacles that TRIED to get in the way of me accomplishing the overall goal for AMADI magazine. It was on my heart to break real with the AMADI readers, because I am human just like YOU.

AMAZING happens every month when the AMADI team puts out QUALITY articles and video interviews.  Enjoy the new issue!

Hi! My Name Is…Jason

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

There’s something to be said about a person who has a dream.  There’s even more to be said about two people, with the same dream, who come to together and follow it.  Meet Jason Reynolds, the writer and poet,  and Jason Griffin, the artist.  The two came together to create their artistic journey within their new book, My Name is Jason,  Mine Too.  Our Story. Our Way.  It’s the story - their own story - of how the Big Apple beat down and built up two young men from the Maryland suburbs.

The Jasons’ first project together was a coffee table styled book, titled Self,  a book they self published and spent tens of thousands of dollars of their own money (and credit) to produce.  They took this work and left for New York City to find a literary agent.  Doors were constantly slammed in their faces as agencies told them that their hard work would not sell in stores.

Marky: Nothing is 43ver!

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Welcome to MARKYLAND!

Universal Records/SRC/Studio43’s artist Marky is from Washington, D.C. and last month (APR 2009) he released a DOPE mini album entitled, “Nothing is 43ver”. Marky has a true passion for the art of music and he is really taking the time to understand the business aspect of the music industry, which I find very IMPRESSIVE. Not, only does he plan to be a great artist; he plans to change the game by becoming a music industry MOGUL. I would say, “he is one of the most unique DMV artist that I have met thus far and I see a very BRIGHT future for Marky and the Studio43 crew”! I RESPECT his genius already!
