Nyakinyua Gill, AMADI’s January feature (Accessorize with Barack Obama) has taken her full jewelry line across the globe to Africa and made history! Last month, Nya participated in the very first African Fashion Week in Johannesburg, South Africa. Mother of Men Jewelry was featured in a show presented by Aschobi Designs, a line run by her childhood best friend, Adama Kai. Adama, originally from Sierra Leon, spent much of her childhood in New York, studied fashion at the world renowned Parsons in Paris, France and took her designs back home. Nya managed to put together the whole line of jewelry with Adama’s clothing line from the other side of the world. “All the work was done via email and telephone,” says Nya of the experience. She hopes to be apart of the event next year as well.
